Throughout the year, Fleet 13 has several planned and unplanned events. This year, our planned events offer a combination, as always, of boat-based and land-based activities. These activities range from normal cruises and raft-ups on the water to wine tasting's, art shows and festivals in and around Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

No, not a color picture of the sinking of the Titanic! Here, members of Fleet 13 enjoy the refreshing water of Lake Lanier. We were rafting up with Catalina 30's through Catalina 36's. While the majority were Catalina 34 Mk Is and IIs, we wanted our Catalina family to join in on the fun! The more the merrier. During this raft up, we compared and contrasted the features of the C34 Mk I, Mk I.5 & Mk II. It was also an opportunity to showcase each owner's additions and modifications.

Lance Jones is leading the group through an official whiskey tasting. During this class of destruction...oops, instruction, with ten boats in attendance, Lance talked of the Irish, Scotch, Kentucky, Tennessee and Canadian varieties of whiskey. Of course, being held in North Georgia, was it any surprise that a clear fluid in a mason jar made its rounds too? A direct link from Georgia's present to its Celtic immigrant past...

Fleet 13 conducted an organizational meeting in July to plan for the 2009/2010 events. One of the major events that will be transpiring is our trip to Australia. While we'd obviously LOVE to sail our 34s to the Land Down Under, members will fly there and travel with our own Fleet 13 Aussie , Bruce Whyte as a guide!

August 23: Meeting with Whytes to plan Australia 2010 (Land)

September 12: Second meeting with Whytes to plan (Land)

September 19: Tour of the North Georgia wine country (Land)

September 26: Raft-up, organized by Tom and Margaret Danforth (Water)

October 3: October Fest on Sunrise Cove's P Dock, given, of course, by the McCoys (Land)

November 7 (?): Italian Dinner and Fourth Annual Wine-tasting, chaired by Barb Mitchell and Ken Krawford (Land)

December (?): Annual Christmas Party hosted by Diane and Jim Price, with food assistance from Lisa and David Penz (Land)

2010 Events:

May: Memorial Day Brunch, organized by Angelia Wilson (Land)

June: Rum-tasting raft-up, hosted by Lance and Kitty Jones (Water)

July: Fleet 13 organizational meeting (Land)
